United States FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force today arrested David Coleman Headley, an American national at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Toying on Lashkar-e-Toiba’s schemes to bomb India and Denmark as part of its terrorist attacks, Headley was about to board a flight to Philadelphia from where he was supposed to meet the fugitive Ilyas Kashmiri. Headley’s partner Pakistani-Canadian national Tahawwur Hussain Rana was already arrested by FBI on October 18. Headley’s original namewas Daood Gilani which he chaged in the year 2006.
According to FBI’s chargesheet submitted at a Chicago court, Headley was in close contact with top LeT leaders, identified by the sleuths as “LeT member A” and “Individual A”. The emails exchanged between Headley and Let member A “reflect that LeT Member A was placing a higher priority on using Headley to assist in planning a new attack in India than on completing the planned attack in Denmark.” FBI emphasized the fact that this LeT member A “has substantial influence and responsibility within the organization” and his “identity is known to the government.”
The terrorists have been infuriated by a Danish Newspaper that allegedly published cartoons of Prophet Mohammed.

Hakimullah Mehsud, the Pakistani Taliban chief issued a serious warning to India declaring the continuity of the terror attacks and the suicide bombings and demanded the immediate conceptualisation and materialisation of a separate Islamic state in Pakistan.
Sending a chill down the spines of both the governments of India and Pakistan, Mehsud said that attacks will be put into action on India too, like they have been going over Pak, if the demands don’t get fulfilled. A mass destruction is on the list and if their demands are met, then Taliban will help in fighting the Indians off the Indo-Pak border.

China is angry and the reason, it seems, is India. Once again, tensions soared high on 13th October as Indian Prime Minister visited Arunachal Pradesh to address voters before the assembly elections scheduled to have commenced from Monday. The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ma Zhaoxu submitted a written complaint accusing India of ignoring China’s repeated requests not to address the voters native to Arunachal Pradesh.
Fresh debates started doing the rounds as the Ma Zhaoxu clearly suggested China’s disappointment with India’s non-committal attitude in resolving important issues such as the LAC border issue etc. It is well known that China had long set its eyes on the vulnerability behind the 640 -mile border conflict between Arunachal representing India and itself. The McMohan line has so far been ignored by the Chinese. Grievance list goes further if, digging into the past, we find the request of keeping the exile Tibetan leader Dalai Llama from crossing the Indian territories turned down with India obliging the leader.

Lecturing at the Indian Institute of Technology’s Global Conference 2009 in Chicago on 10th October, former US president Bill Clinton directed the limelight towards India stating the country’s remarkable potentiality to leave China behind in the run to dominance in the 21st century. Clinton stressed that if India and the countries of the Indian sub-continent buckle up and help each other out in economic and social progress, then chances are that China will not be able to grab the top position in the 21st century global graph. Only that both India and Pakistan must redeem themselves and re-consider further practicing of their state policies of putting blames over each other. That is, if terrorist attack India, then the blame immediately goes over Pakistan’s shoulders and if India invests on Afghanistan’s modernization and stabilization, sparks fly in Pakistan.
Urging India to make peace with Pakistan and the latter to reciprocate, Clinton claimed that if India “did not have to raise defense spending 20 percent a year and these countries could be working together I think you will grow faster than China.” He added that he believed the idea that “the Chinese are going to dominate the 21st century is not necessarily true.”

The ongoing racial abuses and slightings in Australia towards Asian students, particularly Indian, are casting forth dark shadows over the prospects of expansion of educational partnership and enterpreneurship between India and Australia. In accordance with IDP Education chief officer Tony Pollock’s analysis, racist practices may earn Australia a 50% dip in the number of Indian students interested in pursuing higher courses in the country.
From among the 35000 students intake by the IDP, around 1100 are Indians and more than 6000 foreign sutdents have voted the Australian cities, Sydney and Melbourne as as potentially unsafe for foreign students.

In a recent revelation on the identity of the lone militant survivor of the Pakistan Military Seige great stunt, military spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas said. stated that the accused Aqeel alias Dr. Usman was perhaps linked with the attacks on the Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Lahore and has also close links with banned terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harkut-ul-Ansar.The possibility of the hand of LTTE in the attacks is another field to be explored, the officer said.
The elite Special Service Group of commandos gunned down four of Aqeel’s accomplices and freed 42 hostages. But Aqueel injured himself when he tried to set off a pack of explosives.
Aqueel had earned himself a position on the most wanted hitlist after his failed attempts to attack former President Pervez Musharraf and former premier Shaukat Aziz and his attempted assassination of Lt Gen Mushtaq Baig, the chief of the army’s medical services, in February last year. Several attacks on Shia prayer halls in Punjab have also been added to the bounty.

Beating 205 candidates for the highest award in the civilian category of the world’s most prestigious award, the 8- month old 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama wins this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee said. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”
His “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”, his dedicated efforts in stabilizing the Iraq government, his engagement of Ahmed-Juan in Iran and his massive efforts at pulling back the defense shield in Czechoslovakia has managed to give the Americans a “hegemony” sort of role. His special efforts at creating a world free of nuclear weapons and his creating a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play has been instrumental in his acheiving this award.
