AISPLB Seeks Urdu Vande Mataram

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

After a  series of debates and rage over singing of Vande Mataram in any other language apart from Hindi, the All India Shia Personal Law Board under the presidency and chairmanship of Maulana Mirza Mohammed Athar, has decided to fight for an “authenticated and officially approved Urdu translation of Vande Matram,” as the ” conflict over singing of Vande Matram triggered recently is posing a grave certain threat to the nation’s unity.”

The government (fax was sent to both President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh) has been requested to circulate “the song’s translated version to minority institutes to enable them to form a consensus on the issue.’’

Islam, Athar says, “forbids its followers to bow to any entity other than Allah, paying respect to the motherland is altogether a different matter” and the AISPLB has least interest in proving Muslims “unpatriotic” by overlooking the  general resentment triggered by some anti-Muslim forces.
