Aligarh Muslim University Shuts Down
Just a day after Shahnawaz Alam, a B.Sc final year student of the Aligarh Muslim University got killed by miscreants, the students forced the authorities, in a fit of rage, to shut down the doors temporarily. Around 600 students had protested the murder and had blocked the Delhi-Howrah route for hours, demanding punishment for the culprits
Rahat Abrar, AMU spokesperson told the media that “The decision to close down the university and its maintained institutions was taken in a consultative meeting presided by AMU Vice Chancellor P.K. Abdul Azis.”
Matters will be reviewed and resolved shortly after meetings with both the police and the students, Abrar clarified.
100 special buses and two coaches for students coming from east in trains have been arranged for students who have been requested to vacate the hostels in the wake of the agitation.
