Condemning the hideous act of beheading kidnapped Frances Induwar(sept. 30), the late Jharkhand cop, whose mutilated body was been found this morning, at Raisha Ghati, about 12 km from Ranchi. Home Minister P. Chidambaram today sent a clear message to the Maoist camps across India to place demands straight in front of the goevernment instead of kidnapping and murdering innocents, adding “cold blooded murder is simply not acceptable.” He said further that the State DGP had told him that there was no demand for a swap of prisoners, stressing the fact that the India Government “cannot swap prisoners with those who are outside the purview of law, who take the law in their hands.” It seemed that the centre-states have somehow set aside their differences and combined to combat Naxal aggression in India.
Chidambaram remarked that “the naxalite threat is a grave threat to internal security, the Centre will provide support to the State police forces to continue their operations against the Maoists.”
P. Chidambaram delivered quite a lengthy speech on the current trend in the tribal areas of joining the naxals as a show of disapproval against the government’s forceful capitalistic practices and land aquisitions. Debating over the issue of poverty ruining the illiterate tribals. the minister posed a big question against HRD activists, “Why are the human rights groups silent?”
