The Ratnagiri-Goa Highway has been closed owing to continuous heavy rains in the south. The konkan railways too hit a dark pitch as downpours brought in with them flash floods. At Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool, the water level of the Srisailam dam had already crossed the full reservoir level of 885 feet as stated by Dhramana Prasada Rao,  Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister of state and now is under considerable threat of being  submerged in the backwaters of the dam.Another such problematic area concerns the neighbourhood of Nagarjunsagar dam.

Although relief work is on for, the six allocated helicopters are evidently not enough to evacuate residents in time.Worst hit areas include Kurnool and Mantralayam towns along with Vijayawada city where the figures of flood victims are still unclear.  The low-lying areas of Krishna district hve been targeted for evacuation by the authorities.More than 70 are already dead in Bangalore. Disaster Management is on as Army has joined hands in rescuing the marooned villagers.

The depression developing over the Bay of Bengal and also the Arabian sea are major contributors to this untimely downpour.
