Chief Medical Officer, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, N.K. Yadav told the media that “about 203 challans were issued in last one week. At least 5,166 challans have been issued since January where breeding of mosquito (in stagnant water) responsible for spread of the disease was found.”

Debashish Bhattacharya, the state’s nodal officer for assessing the correct number of dengue cases stated that 1,354 legal notices have been issued to places where breeding of mosquitoes have not been checked. Bhattacharya succedded Charan Singh who was pulled out by Delhi Health’s Minister Kiran Walia on charges of miscalculations of infections. Bhattacharya, “as the state nodal officer, will collect and cross check the figures of dengue cases from the hospitals,” Walia informed.

Meetings have been held between the top-shot government hospitals such as Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP), Govind Ballabh Pant hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and private hospitals like Apollo Hospital, Max Devki Devi Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Mool Chand Hospital and health ministries to check and prevent the spreading of dengue in the capital.

Anant Swarup, spokesperson of the Northern Railways told reporters that the four were trying to “illegally” cross the track.

“Because of the accident, the engine of the train was damaged and we sent another engine from Delhi. However, because of the ongoing protests there, the relief engine could not be attached,” he continued. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) came over to handle the situation.

3 buse accompanied by a convoy of 8 cars of police escorts are already making rounds in the 10 allocated spots. Among them, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, National Highway-24, Talkatora Road, Raisina Road, Janpath, Prithviraj Road and Aurobindo Marg are already bearing the brunt, as reported by The Times of India

Meanwhile, Air India has been declared as the official carrier for this event that is to be hosted by India next year.

The Saket station will link Connaught Place to Gurgaon in neighbouring Haryana. The line is set to open in March 2010. Although Metro officials claim there have been no injuries at the spot, the two injured have been rushed to a near-by hospital.  There were 30 workers present when the “mechanical failure” took place
