Among the other accused facing trial before the court along with Koda are Bandhu Tirkey, Kamlesh Singh and Bhanu Pratap Sahi, all of who were ministers in Koda government.

Koda demanded excuse from the public appearance citing campaigning and elections as the reason. While the former minister excused himself from appearing before the Enforcement Departments citing the same reason, he had pleaded innocence moments after his release from the Apollo hospital where he was treated for stomach ache.

Apparently, the IT department has collected strong evidence of Koda’s hawala transactions after raids were carried out at 70 places across eight cities, that is, Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Nasik, Ranchi, Chaibasa and Jamshedpur which include “some documents (that) showed about Rs 100 crore in foreign exchange being sent by hawala transactions to Dubai, Thailand and Malayasia.” The evidences make the Koda, Sanjay Choudhary and Vinod Kumar Sinha side, the last two Koda’s accomplices, considerably weaker. Five more people have been accused of investing illegal money abroad apart from the trio.

Identified by the police as Mohammad Yaqub Janjua, 60, and Aamer Yaqub Janjua, 31, they have been charged of assisting serious anti-social activities that includes international terrorism as the main highlight.

Interestingly, the money transfers have been funded to another Pakistani citizen who has apparently never visited Italy before. The Italian Police has closely watching and interrogating after being warned by India authorities and the FBI. Off late, most of the money transfers have been en route Italy itself. Stefano Fonzi, the head of anti-terror police in Brescia, said that Italian police began the probe in December last year.

Further probing can conclude whether these two have any links with David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the two arrested suspected LeT militants.

He refuted charges against him and when asked about the strong evidence against him, only replied “Ask them (the IT department).”

Koda has also been accused of gathering assets beyond his normal income.

“The special commissioner Ajay Kumar is scrutinizing the mines case,” Ajit Kumar Srivastav, additional director of IT, said to the media. He also added that they have come across “documents and information related to investment in foreign countries and money sent through hawala. Koda will be interrogated to know about foreign investments and the hawala transactions and how the network was working.”

The Enforcement case was registered by Enforcement Directorate had filed an Information Report on October 9 against Koda and 8 other people.  The police is expected to send summons to the accused for further questioning.

Ujjawal Choudhary , an IT Department official claims that they ” have come across some deals when Koda was the mines and geology minister and Arjun Munda was the chief minister. The deals indicate unaccounted transaction of money.” Koda has also been accused of gathering assets beyond his normal income.
