Reminding us once again, the former PWD minister of Maharashtra talks about his previous feats such as the fact that he had built the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in just two years and at a cost of Rs2,000 crore when more expenses is expected in projects such as these in other states. He informed the media that he always is willing to vouchsafe for politics as the most important factor in developing social and economic conditions of the country. Thus he said, ” I don’t work as if I am making a political career. I work for the poor and downtrodden sections of society who don’t have food to eat, house to live in or clothes to wear. I strive to bring about a transformation in their lives.”

BJP has been long since missing a real thrust at the fore front ever since Atal Bihari Vajpayee stepped down as the Leader of Opposition. As we have been seeing for quite a few years, BJP, despite repeated efforts, has not been able to resurface after the parliamentary overthrow by UPA government. When the furore over Yashwant Singh’s controversial book regarding the role played by Nehru and Jinnah in partition took place, people looked up to BJP Leader L.K. Advani to pacify the agigated followers of BJP but only the man in question could tell his self-imposed isolation from the issue. Right now, the party is in a bad state, thanks to Liberhann’s report on the demolition of Babri Masjid where he points to former Prime Minister, BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee as being instrumental in the riots that burnt the country down back in December 6, 1992.

How far these shifts in the party work up to the party’s advantage will be seen in near future.

Airtel distribution network currently covers around 4.25 lakh cities and villages. Its network covers 110 million customers, has 100,000 sites and this new Freedom scheme will be available nationwide. President of mobile services, Atul Bhandari stated that the scheme has been dessigned “In keeping with our ethos of providing the best to our customers” and that the company is ” delighted to offer a one-second pulse to customers.”

Incidentally Aritel has also another scheme that coincidentally releases with Vodafone’s. Called Airtel Advantage, subscribers to this plan will have to pay  50 paise for every minute while calling local and national numbers in same network and 60 Paise for those with external networks.

Extending a hand of friendship towards Pakistan, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged the neighbour to carry it “forward” and show “sincerity and good faith”. As I have said many times before, we will not be found wanting in our response,” Manmohan Singh said while addressing the public at Anantnag where he, Sonia Gandhi and other VVIPs flagged off the new train service that connects South Kashmir to North. He stressed that such a step is vital to the interests of both the people of India and Pakistan.

PM was however, firm in his stand of disagreement over Pakistan’s careless curbing of terrorism directed at India. “For a productive dialogue it is essential that terrorism must be brought under control,” he said in Urdu.

The PM believes that a majority of Pakistani actually want good co-relations and support from their Indian counter-parts and a lasting peace, something which the PM stressed, is reflected by Indians as well.

Several critical issues including development of J&K, curbing of terrorist and violent acts and an appeal to the younger generation to rebuild a shattered heaven, Manmohan Singh said, “Manmohan Singh said: “We had the most fruitful and productive discussions ever with the government of Pakistan during the period 2004-07 when militancy and violence began to decline. Intensive discussions were held on all issues including on a permanent resolution of the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. ”

The PM further blamed the terrorists to have “misused the name of a peaceful and benevolent religion.” All the progress, he added, that India has achieved “has been repeatedly thwarted by acts of terrorism. The terrorists want permanent enmity to prevail between the two countries”

He also urged the government of Pakistan to “bring” the terror groups  “to book, to destroy their camps and to eliminate their infrastructure. The perpetrators of the acts of terror must pay the heaviest penalty for their barbaric crimes against humanity.”

“Today I felt for the first time that things have changed here since the prime minister and the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) chairperson would not be addressing people from behind a bullet-proof screen,” Omar Abdullah said at a press meet after Manmohan Singh and Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi decided not to use a bullet proof while flagging off a new train service linking south Kashmir with Srinagar and other places in north.

Welcoming the change, Omar told the media that the situation is perhaps less critical in his state and the need now is concentrating on strengthening both political and economic scenario of J&K.

“If we want to rid the state of the menace of the gun, we must find a permanent solution to political problem here.” Abdullah ensured full support to the on-going dialogue between the central and the state government to curb terrorist acts in the state.

If the value based CBSE curriculum was not enough, the board has decided to examine students on the basis of their interaction with the general world(read fellow students and teachers), an issue that has raised eyebrows nationwide.

While many have nodded their heads in support of the new gradation system citing examples of morality incorporation among youngsters as one of the main reasons behind such a decision, others have simply dismissed the whole theory stating that it may affect the general academic standards and performance of the students.

Expressing their reservations over the controversial matter, some principals have however, relented to the new grading rule. This gives teachers who themselves have attitude problems, ample opportunity, perhaps, to manipulate students.
